Premier League Darts 2026: How many nine darters will we see as Luke Littler chases another record? | Darts News

Luke Littler enjoyed a record-breaking run in the Premier League last year and is aiming to take it even further in 2026.

Although Littler lost the 2025 Premier League final to Luke Humphries, he reached numerous statistical milestones in the process, including a record of six wins a night and a record 180 wins.

Now, Littler not only wants to break his own record, but also set new ones, and his main goal is to set a new record for the highest average in a Premier League match. The world champion believes he can reach an average of 125 points, with the current record being Michael van Gerwen’s 123.4 points.

Littler has already done the math on how to make that happen.

“Well, it might sound easy, but six 12-dart legs, an average of 125 and a 6-0 win,” Littler told Sky Sports.

“Then we want to win seven games every night.

“Obviously, I want to beat my record with a win every night, and I want to break my new record in the 180s as well.”

The buzz among players is that you’ll have the chance to hit multiple nine-darters during the campaign.

Gerwyn Price believes a player could hit nine darters in quick succession in this year’s Premier League, and the 19-year-old is ready to add that record to his list.

If a player hits nine darters in the Premier League, they will be awarded a gold dart worth £30,000.

“I want to hit some nine darters,” Littler added.

Gerwyn Price makes bold predictions for the 2026 Premier League

“I think Mr Price said someone might hit nine perfect darts in a row, 18 perfect darts.

“If everything goes to plan, the fans will be very happy this year. We’re going to get a few more gold darts.”

It’s not just the record in Littler’s mind, but also his hope of joining another elite list.

If Littler were to win his second Premier League title in his third appearance, he would become the world champion after Phil Taylor, Van Gerwen and Gary Anderson, and go on to win the Premier League.

“This is another list that I hope I can add my name to,” Littler said.

“As darts players, we can think about things like that.

“There are things like that when you come into the Premier League as reigning champions, but I just want to win it for myself.”

Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge and MODUS Superseries CEO Chris Murphy preview the 2026 Premier League and predict the top four results, the most exciting walk-ons and whether any players will hit the prestigious nine darters

Littler wants to be the player who throws a perfect 18 darts, while Price has set that as his goal in the Premier League and dreams of achieving it on his home night in Wales.

“A few years ago, I hit two nine darters in one night, and this year I predicted I would hit back-to-back on the same night,” he said.

“Cardiff would be perfect, but it could be anywhere.

“Even if I don’t do it, I think someone will win back-to-back titles this season. Hopefully it’ll be me, but someone else will.”

Michael van Gerwen almost achieved the unthinkable at the 2012/13 World Championships, hitting 17 perfect darts in his semi-final win over James Wade.

While Price is confident, Van Gerwen and Humphries are less convinced that any player can achieve back-to-back perfections.

Van Gerwen famously hit 17 perfect darts in the 2013 World Darts Championship semi-final against James Wade.

“I hit two nine-darters in one game. Consecutives will be a big task. I don’t think that will happen this year, but you never know,” the Dutchman said.

Luke Humphries looks to the Premier League and says he is ready to compete with Luke Littler

World number two and defending champion Humphries agrees with van Gerwen that while it is difficult to think of such a moment, there are three names he thinks could do it.

“That’s a big ask for someone. I wouldn’t be surprised if we had two nine-darters in one game, but two in a row would be tough because I’ve only seen someone come close once,” Humphries said.

“If anyone was going to do it, it would be me or Luke or Gerwin, because we were probably the biggest nine-dart hitters in the last few years.”

Who will win this year’s Premier League Darts? Luke Humphries will defend his title and you can watch the match every Thursday on Sky Sports from February to May. Stream darts and other top sports now.
