Jake Paul could target Tommy Fury’s next rematch in the UK after he recovers from a broken jaw sustained in his fight with Anthony Joshua. boxing news

Jake Paul is set to resume his boxing career later this year after undergoing surgery on a broken jaw and could be eyeing a rematch with Tommy Fury in the UK.

Paul is next scheduled to hold boxing talks in the UK, which could include a rematch with Tommy Fury.

After losing to Anthony Joshua at heavyweight, Paul, a natural cruiserweight, could seek revenge against Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury’s younger brother, who came close on points in 2023.

“He wants to prove to the world that he can beat Tommy Fury,” Nakisa Bidalyan, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions with Paul, told Sky Sports.

“Jake’s record before Joshua was one loss and that was to Tommy Fury. I would like that fight to happen because I think it’s a great barometer of how far Jake has come.

“I don’t think he (Fury) has improved as much as Jake in the last three years because he hasn’t focused as much on boxing.

“I hope that fight becomes a reality.”

Paul fought former unified heavyweight champion Joshua for six rounds, but lost by stoppage and suffered a broken jaw.

However, he should return to the sport later this year and may even box in the UK.

“He wants to come back. He has asked me to start negotiating some fights,” Bidalian revealed. “I think you can expect to see Jake Paul back in the boxing ring between August and November. I want him to come to England and fight. That’s what I want to see.”

“It’s really going to be part of the conversation. I would love for Jake Paul to come to England and have a fight.”

Paul is an unconventional professional boxer. The Youtube star has previously fought UFC champion and 58-year-old Mike Tyson, but decided to defy the odds and take a round with Joshua.

Vidalian believes that the fight against Joshua will allow Paul to be reborn as a boxer, rather than being a doom as some had predicted.

Sky Sports’ Jonny Nelson shares his thoughts on Joshua’s win over Paul, saying Paul’s knockout loss was a ‘reality check’

“I thought he did well against Joshua after four weeks of preparation against an opponent of his stature,” Bidalian said.

“I think he realizes he has a lot more to do, even something as simple as his cardio. If his cardio had held up, he probably would have gone eight rounds, but he ran out of gas and Joshua caught up to him. It’s a strange development, but I think losing to Joshua will help Jake Paul in the long run.”

A rematch with Tommy Fury could be another blockbuster event for him.

“There was more internet interest in Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury in the UK than any Tyson Fury fight in the last five years, more than any Jake Paul fight other than Mike Tyson in the last five years. And that includes Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua. And that was a fight that happened in Saudi Arabia,” Bidalian said.

“So if we could have that match in the UK or somewhere in Europe, I think the young people and the internet-using generation would be crazy about it.

“It’s difficult to come to someone’s country and do that, so we’ll see how that discussion turns out, but I would love to have a fight with Jake in the UK. I think it would be a big statement.”
