Terry Harper accuses Caroline Dubois of “disrespect” after promising “a great victory” ahead of tense showdown | Boxing News

Caroline Dubois continued to engage in psychological warfare with rival Terry Harper at the launch press conference ahead of the world title unification on April 5, which was broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Both Britons hold lightweight world titles, with Dubois a WBC titlist and Harper a WBO 135-pound belt. They will be boxing to unify at the Olympia in Kensington on Sunday, April 5th.

But their rivalry is becoming increasingly personal, with Dubois, a three-division champion, viewing Harper’s accomplishments as “disrespectful”.

So the normally soft-spoken Harper declared: “This fight is not for the belt. For me, I just want to fight Caroline. It would be the greatest win of my career.”

“She’s completely ignoring me and thinks it’s going to be a fun night.”

Dubois reiterated his claim that he considers Harper “irrelevant” and said the April 5 win was just the beginning of her boxing legacy.

Immediately the Londoner retorted, “It’s going to be an easy night.

“I don’t think she believes the words that come out of her mouth.”

Mr. Dubois interrupted Mr. Harper during the press conference and continued to speak to her during the subsequent confrontation. Harper, a tall fighter, glared at Dubois, then turned away, and Dubois stepped into her space and posed for the cameras.

“I know I can get through this fight. I believe I will crush her,” Dubois said ominously. “I can’t wait.

“This is the beginning of my future, my legacy, my greatness, and I will go all the way.

“I said she was irrelevant because I believe she is irrelevant. My accomplishments start with being the undisputed presence at lightweight. Unfortunately for Terry, she is the one holding the belt.”

Ahead of their title unification match on April 5, Caroline Dubois and Terry Harper got into an argument in the Sky Sports News studio.

Harper remains a proud champion, and the jibes from her opponents motivated her even more.

“For me, it’s disrespect from Caroline,” said the WBO titlist. “She does a great job of picking the fight and doing my job for me. I’m just being myself.”

“What happened this night makes no sense.”

Dubois and Harper get into heated argument at the end of ‘The Globe Are Off’ ahead of April game

Harper had lost before, but bounced back and made a comeback. She is the more experienced of the two and intends to humble Dubois.

“With my engine and my workload, she won’t be able to match it,” she said. “I had to learn the hard way, and I believe she’s doing that too.”

Catford’s three-belt world super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney is looking to make history when she takes on Mexico’s Mayeli Flores. If she wins, Scotney will become the youngest British undisputed world champion in history, an era in which she held four belts.

“I remember waiting for my shot and how long it took,” Scotney said. “I have the final piece of the puzzle in front of me.

“Whenever I envisioned an undisputed fight, it was always at home and I’m just grateful to be back in the UK boxing on Sky Sports.”

“It’s a little bit different when you come from south London, you have to work a little bit harder and you have to appreciate it a little bit more.”

Watch Dubois vs. Harper and Scotney vs. Flores live on Sky Sports on Sunday 5th April.
