India’s 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set a new record for the highest score in an U-19 Cricket World Cup final by scoring a stunning 175 off 80 balls in his team’s 100-run victory over England.

Suryavanshi, who turns 15 in March, hit 30 boundaries with an even split of fours and sixes, posting an impressive strike rate of 218.75, and left India with a trophy of 411 wins and nine losses as the No. 1 batsman in Harare.

England took up their lofty goals admirably, with Caleb Falconer (115 off 67) achieving his best hundred, but at the cost of losing four wickets for three runs (dropping from 174-3 to 177-7), the result ultimately proved too much to recover from.

Falconer was the last man to fall as England were bowled out for 311 in the 41st over as India clinched their sixth U19 world title.

Relive the moment when Caleb Falconer reached 100 in just 63 balls in the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup final.

After India won the toss and elected to bat first, opener Suryavanshi scored his century in just 55 balls and went on a stunning onslaught against a shell-shocked England bowling attack before being defeated with a score of 251-3 in just 25 overs.

Captain Ayush Mhatre, 53, was the only Indian batsman to score more than 50 runs, but with some useful cameos from some of the middle-order players, they were able to post a very formidable batting tally.

Suryavanshi previously hit 101 off 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals, the second-fastest century in IPL history.

Several England players congratulated Sooryavanshi on his dismissal before the batsman received a standing ovation from the crowd and teammates.

England, who needed to chase the record, got off to a subdued start and managed just two runs after the first three overs. Opener Ben Dawkins (66 off 56) struggled to a half-century on 49 balls, but his dismissal resulted in a mini-collapse of four wickets in 15 balls, the second of which was Ralphie Albert’s disastrous run-out. England still had 235 wickets to their name, with three to go.

The Arrogant Falconer provided much-needed calm at the crease and revived the England clause with a sublime 63-ball century, but a brilliant catch from Kirhan Patel ended his team’s innings and handed India their sixth U19 World Cup title.

Suryavanshi chases record with another amazing knock

Suryavanshi pioneered the India U19 side last summer by scoring a 52-ball century off 143 balls against England U19.

Suryavanshi fell 17 points short of the highest score in U19 World Cup history, set by Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamdita in 2026 when he scored 192 against Japan.

Suryavanshi became the sixth player to score a century in an U19 World Cup final, easily surpassing the previous highest score of 111 scored by fellow Umukt Chand against Australia in 2012.

The knock was also the latest in a string of remarkable innings last year that established Sooryavanshi as perhaps the most exciting prospect in the men’s game.

Suryavanshi made his IPL debut in April last year and became the youngest player to score a century in the tournament. His 35 Boultons for Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans was the second fastest in IPL history.

Friday’s hundred was also not Suryavanshi’s first sensational knock against England, as he had hit 143 for Worcester during last summer’s India Under-19 tour.
