Nottingham Forest sacked manager Sean Dyche after just 114 days and 17 games in charge, and the club are now hoping to negotiate with former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira.

Pereira was previously employed by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiakos, where he won a league and cup double with the Greek team in 2015.

Nottingham Forest want to make an immediate appointment following the sacking of manager Sean Dyche and have named former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira as a possible replacement, according to Anton Troy.

Pereira was appointed in December 2024 and continued to support Wolves last season, but was sacked after a poor start to the season.

News of Dyche’s departure was announced at 12:30 a.m. Thursday. It was around three hours after Forest were held to a goalless draw with Wolves, the bottom club in the Premier League.

Diche becomes the third Forest manager to be sacked this season, following Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, who himself was in charge at the City Ground for just 39 days.

Forest made the decision to let Dyche go after a run of three games without a win, including draws against Crystal Palace and Wolves in the Premier League, and a 3-1 defeat at relegation rivals Leeds last Friday.

Dyche leaves with Forest three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining this season.

Forest have seven days off before their next game, next Thursday’s Europa League play-off against Fenerbahce. The players will have a day off on Thursday and nothing is expected of them at Forest until then.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is understood to be frustrated at the club’s inability to make the most of its attacking talent and move out of the relegation zone.

Analysis: The offensive predicament behind Deish’s dismissal

Nottingham Forest’s Nikola Milenkovic appears depressed full-time

Anton Troi on Sky Sports News:

Sean Dyche was brought to Nottingham Forest not only to ensure they remained in the Premier League, but also to move them up the table.

That is why he was only given a contract until the end of next season. His goals were short-term, and his failure to score against relegated Wolves made his sacking inevitable.

There is growing dissatisfaction among those in power at the club.

Three games in a row against struggling teams Crystal Palace, Leeds and Wolves should have given Dyche some vital breathing room. Instead, he picked up just two points and his team continues to tread water past the drop zone.

Forest spent £180m in the summer and also signed players in January. Most of that has gone to the attackers, with Forest only scoring 25 goals in 26 league games this season.

How can a club with such talented players as Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Elliott Anderson continue to struggle?

The new manager will have to find out next week before a big trip to Turkey to face Fenerbahce in the Europa League before the Premier League game against Liverpool.

Daish’s last words as the boss of the forest

Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche said after the 0-0 draw with Wolves.

“The owners have been fair to me without question. If someone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen that.

“People can demand change, but then it’s always a question of whether they change. I just work hard. I care about this club. I’ve made that clear. I’m working hard.”

“If the owner wants to make a change, it’s up to him, that’s the way football is now, that’s the reality.

“But I’m not questioning the owner here. He’s been completely fair to me from start to finish and I’ve been fair to him and told him the truth every step of the way.”

“Owners are owners. They don’t keep you warm. If that’s the case, they’ll just come. I’m a realist. I understand that the noise here has changed a lot since the last few games.”
