Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has omitted Sam Prendergast from this weekend’s Six Nations match against England at Twickenham.

Jack Crowley will start at number 10 for Ireland, with Ciaran Frawley covering on the bench, while Prendergast, who has started Ireland’s last four games and played in all five of last year’s Six Nations games, has been left out of the matchday squad completely.

Ireland will continue on from last Saturday’s win over Italy at the Aviva Stadium with Caelan Doris leading the side and Farrell making five changes overall. British & Irish Lions quartet Tadhg Furlong, Tadhg Beirne, Josh van der Vlier and Jamison Gibson-Park will all return to the starting XV.

Jamie Osborne, Robert Balcoun and James Rowe remain the same back three, with Stuart McCloskey and Garry Ringrose following in midfield. Crowley will partner Gibson Park at halfback.

In the pack, Jeremy Rahman, Dan Sheehan and Furlong will be selected in the front row, with Beirne, van der Flier and skipper Doris selected in the back row. Joe McCarthy and James Ryan were left in the engine room.

On the experienced bench, Ronan Kelleher, Tom O’Toole, Finlay Bealham, Nick Timoney and Jack Connan made up the forward replacements, while backs’ Craig Casey, Frawley and Tommy O’Brien completed the 23-man squad.
