Conor Benn has signed with Dana White and Zuffa Boxing, saying he wants a “traditional fight” and the “biggest stage.”

The 29-year-old has been part of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing organization since turning professional, but after a 10-year partnership, ‘The Destroyer’ has left to sign with UFC boss Whyte’s promotional company.

Benn famously defeated long-time rival Chris Eubank Jr. in a blockbuster rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November after losing their first fight in April.

Ben paid tribute to his former promoter in a statement on social media, saying: “First and foremost, I’d like to thank Eddie and the entire Matchroom team for everything they’ve done for me over the past 10 years. From coaching me when I first turned professional to headlining stadium shows.”

“Not only have they been with me during the highlight moments, but they have also stood shoulder to shoulder with me during the difficult times.

“This has been a journey beyond anything we could have imagined. I will forever be grateful to them for their belief, support and guidance, but Zuffa Boxing has given me an opportunity I cannot refuse.

“I want Eddie to remain a part of my team and I look forward to our partnership evolving in this new chapter.

“I am excited and hungry for the future of Zuffa Boxing.

“I want a traditional fight, the biggest night, the biggest stage. I’m not afraid of anyone at any weight, and I’m ready to give the fight the fans want. I’m in my prime and we have bold and ambitious plans together.”

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this month, Benn said he was “within reach” of the WBC welterweight title and was ready to fight the winner of Mario Barrios and Ryan Garcia.

Benn, who has won 24 of 25 professional bouts, is confirmed as the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt currently held by Barrios, who will make his first defense against Garcia on February 21 in Las Vegas.

After winning a rematch with Eubank Jr. at middleweight in November, Benn cut weight to fulfill his long-term ambition of retaining a world title.

“Listen, I said I was going to be WBC champion and that was always a dream. So to be within reach and mandatory for the WBC world title, I want to be at ringside and have a winner,” Ben said.

“Definitely Garcia. Garcia vs. Ben, I like the way that sounds.”
