Beau Greaves drew with Darryl Pilgrim in the opening round of the British Open, with Luke Littler returning as defending champion.

Greaves will take part in the 160-player field at Butlins Minehead Resort from March 6 to 8, with 16-year-old Kyle Gilding set to take on Sam Spivey and 20-year-old Charlie Manby set to take on Swiss No1 Stefan Belmont.

Reigning champion Littler and world number one Luke Humphries will join the remaining top 32 players as the fourth round of the tournament begins on Friday night.

Hometown hero Josh Lock scores a sensational nine-dart against Jan van Veen on the fourth night of the Premier League in Belfast.

Their challenge will start alongside those of former champions Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Danny Knoppert, James Wade, Nathan Aspinall, Dimitri van den Bergh and Andrew Gilding, who will also qualify from the fourth round.

Greaves, who reached the fourth round on his Open debut last year, recently hit nine darts at The Players Championship 6 in Leicester.

Amateur qualifier Aiden Kirk returns to Minehead to take on Mervyn King after defeating Phil Taylor, Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price in his first tournament appearance in 2014.

Wright, a former world champion who recently dropped out of the top 32, will compete in the third round alongside Raymond van Barneveld. Wright, the 2017 winner, faces a potential showdown with Lithuania’s Darius Labanauskas, while Callum Francis and Maximilian Czerwinski are also in contention for a spot at the Scottish icon.

Luke Littler gave back to the crowd with a 112 finish shortly after being jeered by Belfast darts fans.

Meanwhile, Van Barneveld, who won back-to-back British Open titles in 2006 and 2007, faces a tough test from Czech number one Karel Sedlacek.

Ricky Evans will face former World Grand Prix runner-up Brendan Dolan, while former Masters champion Joe Cullen will face either Cam Crabtree, Pascal Lapprecht or Jenson Walker.

Following the conclusion of the third round on Friday afternoon, a public draw for the fourth round will take place live on the main stage, with further draws taking place after each subsequent round.
