Nellie Korda maintains a five-shot lead at the Chevron Championship and maintains her voting position ahead of the final round despite not being able to reach the incredible heights of the opening two rounds.

The American, aiming for his third major title, set a new 36-hole tournament score by six strokes with consecutive 65s over the first two days.

On Saturday, she shot a round of 70 to move to 16 under par, but the closest match was Thailand’s Patti Thavatanakit, who moved up to 11 under par after a round of 69, cutting her lead over Korda to one stroke.

China’s Luoning Ying enjoyed a great third round, carding 66 and moving to 10 under par, but is still about six strokes behind Korda.

British duo Charlie Hull (5 under) and Lottie Ward (4 under) are still a bit behind despite doing better in the third round than on the opening two days.

Korda is aiming for his second Chevron crown in three seasons, knowing that a win would catapult him to the top of the world rankings after incumbent Gino Titicle failed to qualify.

“The front nine was great,” Korda said after Saturday’s third round.

“But yeah, I missed a putt on the par-5 eighth, and then I slowed down a little bit.

“And all my putt mistakes were correct, so I’m going to go to the putting green after that.

“I needed to reset, so I hope things go well tomorrow.”
