Nelly Korda won the Chevron Championship wire-to-wire on Sunday at Memorial Park Golf Course, defeating Ruoning Ying and Patty Tavatanakit by five strokes to win her third major title.
The 27-year-old played with confidence throughout the four rounds, finishing the week on 18 under par and overtaking Gino Titicle at the top of the Rolex Women’s Golf Ranking.
Korda showed his dominance, matching his lowest 54-hole score in Sunday’s final round and taking the lead by five strokes.
“It was a tough weekend,” Korda said. “To be honest, it’s not easy to get that much of a lead. It was definitely one of the most difficult things to do mentally.”
“I have a great support system. A great family right behind me. A great caddy on the bag. And I’m really happy to be able to do it.”
She got off to a strong start, going through the first three holes at 2 under as Yin and Tavatanakit tried to cut into the American’s lead.
Korda appeared to be struggling with his putting heading into the weekend, with the American admitting he returned to the practice green after the third round to work on his short game.
The same problem appeared to be present on Sunday, with Korda missing a birdie putt on the second hole and again on the par-5 eighth.
She two-putted and bogeyed the par-4 12th to give Yin and Patti Tabatanaquit a glimmer of hope.
But the undeterred Korda showed composure and bounced back with two birdies on the 13th and 14th, moving her to 19 under par and on track to match Dottie Pepper’s all-time low score of 269.
A birdie on the 17th hole would erase that record, but the American didn’t care, smiling as he strode toward the teeing ground for the final hole.
Korda hit the green with a brilliant approach on the 18th and bravely sunk a long par putt to secure victory.
“Honestly, what I was saying to myself was, ‘I want to hoist this trophy because I want to show the kids at home that it’s okay to miss a short putt and win a major championship,'” Korda said.
“‘You’re going to make it. You’re going to make mistakes, but you still have to be 100 percent.’
“That’s what I really wanted to show. I wanted to show everyone who looks up to me.”
It was Korda’s second win on the LPGA Tour this season, a strong start to 2026 after winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January.
Thailand’s Thavatanakit started the day at 11 under par, five strokes behind Korda, and fought hard to close the gap with the American, but ultimately ended the day at 3 under par.
England’s Charlie Hull was in the top 10 after 15 holes, but bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes meant he ended the day level par and 10th on the leaderboard.
