Brighton have agreed a new long-term contract with manager Fabian Hürzeler.

The 33-year-old’s current term was due to expire at the end of next season, but Sky Sports News understands the deal, which has yet to be signed, is a long-term deal.

Brighton’s stance is not to comment publicly on contract issues prior to an official announcement. The deal has not yet been officially signed, but is expected to be done soon.

Brighton’s bosses have been impressed by Hürzeler, who guided the club to eighth place in the Premier League and is challenging for European status with three games remaining.

Hürzeler was linked with a move away from the Amex, but speaking to Sky Sports last month, the German manager denied speculation suggesting he would return to the Bundesliga.

Fabian Hürzeler said last month that he was happy with his game at Brighton and ruled out a link to Bayer Leverkusen.

“It’s always an honor to be involved in these types of rumors and speculation, but I’m really happy here,” Haseler said.

“I am very grateful for the trust and support the club has given me. I have really enjoyed my time here and am focused on finishing the season strong.

“I’m fully committed. I’m not thinking about anything. In football, you don’t always have loyalty from the club. I feel really trusted and welcomed here. I can express myself and I can really succeed with this team.”

The Seagulls had won six of eight games before losing 3-1 to Newcastle last weekend, but Hürzeler’s side were in excellent form.

Hürzeler joined Brighton in June 2024 and led the club to an eighth-place finish in his first year with the club. The former St. Pauli manager and the league’s youngest manager is currently aiming for his second season in Europe in the club’s history.
