Paris Saint-Germain put in a professional and positive performance to draw 1-1 away at Bayern Munich, securing a 6-5 aggregate victory and a place in the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30th.

This wasn’t the typical 5-4 draw of a week ago, but Ousmane Dembele could have scored a goal after three minutes when he tapped in Hviča Kvaratschelia’s dangerous cross.

However, PSG showed a truly mature performance to overwhelm the German champions. Bayern’s threat appeared to be limited. Michael Oliseh shone brightest when he hunkered down in the first half, but Harry Kane’s late consolation looked undeserved.

However, there was controversy in the first half as Bayern thought Nuno Mendes, who was already booked, should have been sent off for intentional handball. Referee João Pinheiro awarded a wrong-way foul for a questionable handball by Conrad Reimer.

Player rating:

Bayern Munich: Neuer (7); Stanisic (6), Upamecano (6), Tarr (6), Reimer (5). Kimmich (6), Pavlovich (6). Olise (6), Musiala (4), Luis Diaz (5). Kane (5)

Subs: Kim (7), Davis (6), Jackson (n/a), Carl (n/a)

PSG: Safonov (7). Zaire-Emery (6), Marquinhos (7), Pacho (8), Mendes (7). Fabian Ruiz (8), Vicinha (7), João Neves (8). Kvaratschelia (9), Due (7), Dembele (8)

Subs: Barcola (6), L. Hernandez (6), Berardo (6), Mayur (n/a)

Player of the Match: Kvitya Kvaratskeria

With a total difference of two goals at half-time, Bayern did not look like the team most likely to score after the break.

Desire Due and the exciting Kvaratschelia both tested Manuel Neuer after the break, with substitute Bradley Barcola coming close in the closing stages as Bayern struggled to find an answer.

PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov could only cope with comfortable saves from Olise and Luis Diaz in the second half. That was until Kane scored with his left foot on his only chance of the night. It happened in the 94th minute.

Kompany’s hopes of winning the treble are now gone for Bayern, having scored at least three goals in each of their last six home games. PSG will be victorious in Budapest on May 30th.

Who will win the Champions League final?

Sky Sports betting tipster Lewis Jones said:

“It’s always a good idea to look at the betting markets at this time in the run-up to the final. PSG are the favorites and Arsenal are officially the underdogs, but not as much as many people think. It’s PSG on 8/11 and Arsenal on 11/8.”

“It’s a 58 percent to 42 percent split, so who wins?
