The Hundred Auction’s most expensive British woman is set to make her mark on the international stage.
All-rounder Dani Gibson has bounced back from the injury that has kept him out of England games since March 2025.
She earned a record-breaking £190,000 contract with Sunrisers Leeds, making her first England ODI appearance and making a strong start to 2026.
A washout on Wednesday prevented Gibson from reaching 19 in the first ODI against New Zealand, but with the T20 World Cup just around the corner, it’s safe to say he has no intention of stopping there.
“It was a special moment,” Gibson said of his first international appearance in more than a year. “I think it was obviously a tough time because of the injury.
“It was really good to be back on the field (relying on all my hard work). The science and medical teams have helped me get back on the pitch as the all-rounder I want to be.”
“It took me a long, long time, but I’m really happy to be able to play.I’ve had a lot of injuries in the past, so I think there’s always the doubt that I’m not at my best.”
“I think I really tried to take it one step at a time and celebrate each little milestone, no matter how small. I’m really happy to be fully fit and be with the team. It’s going to be an exciting summer.”
Gibson could be a valuable piece of England’s puzzle. She boasts impressive experience for her age, having played 22 international T20s at just 23 years old, and her strike rate of 100.00 in a cameo at the crease last Sunday demonstrated her quick scoring ability, which is essential for both T20 and ODI cricket.
She also took the wicket of New Zealand captain Mary Carr, starting a pivotal late-game surge that saw England take the final seven wickets for just 63 runs. And Gibson is optimistic that this is just the beginning of a productive summer for the team.
“I’m really happy to be back after being away for a while. Everyone seems to be in really good shape. We had a lot of fun together last week, had some great conversations, and we got to do some good training together in the winter.”
“I think the team is in a really good situation. It should be a good summer.”
