Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is scheduled to visit Washington, D.C., later this month for official working-level meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump, White House officials said, marking the Saudi leader’s second visit to the U.S. capital in seven years.

News outlets had previously reported on the crown prince’s visit to the White House, but Reuters was the first to report on Monday that the meeting would take place on November 18.

The visit by the Saudi royal family comes as President Trump urges countries to join the Abraham Accords.

In 2020, President Trump reached agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco to normalize diplomatic relations with Israel. But Saudi Arabia has consistently said that normalizing relations with Israel requires a clear path toward establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

In an interview aired Sunday, President Trump told CBS News’ 60 Minutes that he believes Saudi Arabia will eventually join the deal.

“There is talk of signing something when the crown prince comes, but the details are fluid,” an anonymous Trump administration official told Reuters.

The Financial Times reported two weeks ago that there were hopes that the two countries could sign a defense pact during MBS’s visit.

Saudi Arabia and the United States have maintained a strong relationship for decades, including in the defense field.

During President Trump’s visit to Riyadh in May, the United States agreed to sell Saudi Arabia an arms package worth nearly $142 billion.

In 2017, during his first term as president, Trump added Saudi Arabia to his first major overseas trip, which similarly culminated in a multibillion-dollar arms deal.

It was also during President Trump’s first term that MBS visited the White House and toured several US cities.
