Marc Lamont Hill speaks with The Nation’s Katrina Vanden Heuvel to unpack the first year of President Trump’s second term.

A year into his second term, US President Donald Trump is testing the limits of his executive power. From the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to threats against Iran to efforts to secure control of Greenland, the administration has plunged the United States into territory of turmoil.

Domestically, the Trump administration has implemented tough immigration policies. Documented reports of escalating anti-immigrant operations, along with allegations of racial profiling and detention affecting even American citizens and legal residents, are putting many communities at risk.

In addition, as President Trump’s approval rating plummets ahead of the midterm elections in November, many people in the United States have doubts about his policies due to economic instability.

This week on UpFront, Marc Lamont Hill speaks with Katrina Vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of The Nation magazine, about how President Trump is testing the limits of his executive power and what this means for the rest of his presidential term.
