President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance launched personal attacks on the Supreme Court justices and their families after the U.S. Supreme Court reversed trade tariffs imposed by the White House.

In a 45-minute address to reporters at the White House, the president blasted the six justices who ruled in Friday’s 6-3 decision against Trump’s signature tariff policies, including Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, whom Trump appointed to the court during his first term.

“I think it’s an embarrassment for the family, and I think they both want to know the truth,” Trump said, referring to Judges Gorsuch and Barrett.

President Trump added: “I’m ashamed and absolutely ashamed that some members of this court don’t have the courage to do what’s right for our country.”

Shockingly, President Trump also claimed, without providing any evidence, that the Supreme Court is “at the mercy of foreign interests.”

President Trump then warmly praised the three members of the court who opposed the ruling.

“I want to thank and congratulate Justice (Clarence) Thomas, Justice (Samuel) Alito, and Justice (Brett) Kavanaugh for their strength and wisdom and love for our country. So far, I am so proud of these justices,” Trump said.

“If you read the opposition, there’s no way anyone could argue against it,” he said.

Vice President Vance also criticized the judge’s “lawlessness” in a post about X and harshly criticized the ruling.

“Today, the Supreme Court ruled that despite giving the President the power to ‘regulate imports,’ Congress did not actually intend to do so,” Vance wrote in a post on X.

“This is lawlessness from the court, plain and simple,” Vance said. Mr. Vance’s political profile rose to prominence after he wrote a memoir about his time at Yale Law School.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance’s comments constitute an unprecedented rebuke of the nine members of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court currently has six members appointed by President Trump’s Republican Party and often rules in favor of Trump administration policies.
