Hundreds of mourners paid tribute to late South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.
The Republican lawmaker and key ally of President Donald Trump died suddenly on July 11.
Graham was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002 and was re-elected in 2008, 2014, and 2020. In 1994, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District, to the U.S. Congress. Most recently, he served as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Graham also served on the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
He was a strong supporter of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and has long pushed for military action against Iran.
Graham has long supported Israel and supported President Trump’s ongoing war against Iran.
He was a vocal supporter of Ukraine after Russia invaded the country in 2022.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and several other world leaders attended Graham’s funeral Tuesday afternoon at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
President Trump made the remarks, calling Graham an influence in world and U.S. politics. He called Graham his “beloved friend” and said he “died doing the job he was born to do.”
