Lyft and United launch loyalty programs following end of partnership with Delta Air Lines

The company said the awards will not overlap. Passengers get the highest multiplier on their bookings.

Brian Irving, Lyft’s head of marketing, told CNBC that the partnership builds on both Lyft and United’s commitment to building a better customer experience.

“We have a simple but really customer-centric way of doing things,” he said.

Earlier this year, Delta Air Lines ended its eight-year partnership with Lyft and took its loyalty program to a rival ride-hailing company. Uber.

In recent years, airlines have stepped up their loyalty programs and given customers new ways to earn miles in an effort to increase revenue.

United Airlines announced last month that revenue from its loyalty program increased by 9%. The company also generates revenue through rewards cards and co-branded credit cards.

United Airlines said the deal builds on its commitment to expanding its partnership ecosystem for customers. United’s other partners include Ticketmaster and Avis, and the airline has introduced music streamers. spotify This summer, use it as a seat back screen.

Richard Nunn, CEO of United’s MileagePlus program, said the two companies hope to expand their partnership through further innovation and data integration.

“This is really the beginning of a very deep and meaningful technology integration,” he said.

Passengers will be able to redeem miles for rides and receive alerts and reminders about United Airlines flights directly through the Lyft app. This feature will be available starting early next year.

United Airlines is also offering 1,000 bonus miles to new Lyft customers who link their loyalty accounts and complete two rides in 30 days.
