Amazon sent a notice to its cloud representatives on Tuesday, citing a clear error in acknowledging the company’s “organizational changes.”

The e-commerce giant plans to announce widespread layoffs to its entire workforce as early as this week, people familiar with the matter previously told CNBC. Amazon’s cloud computing and stores divisions are among the divisions expected to be affected.

“These changes are tough on everyone,” Colleen Aubrey, senior vice president of applied AI solutions at Amazon Web Services, wrote in an email seen by CNBC. “These decisions are difficult, but they are being made thoughtfully to position our organization and AWS for future success.”

The memo also cited a post by Beth Galetti, Amazon’s head of human resources, who said the company had notified “colleagues within the affected organizations.”

An Amazon representative did not respond to a request for comment.

The layoffs come months after Amazon announced it would lay off 14,000 employees.
