Artificial intelligence startup Cursor is in talks to raise a $2 billion funding round at a valuation of more than $50 billion, which does not include any investments, people familiar with the matter told CNBC.

Andreessen Horowitz will co-lead the new investment round. Nvidia The company and Thrive Capital will also participate, said the person, who was not authorized to discuss the investment publicly. All three companies have supported the AI coding startup in the past.

Bloomberg News first reported that Cursor was raising capital.

This funding round confirms the venture capital industry’s enthusiasm for startups specializing in AI coding agents that can complete a variety of software development tasks for users. Cursor was one of the first major startups to focus on AI coding agents, but other companies like Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI have since debuted similar tools.

Carcer announced in November that it had closed a $2.3 billion funding round at a post-money valuation of $29.3 billion. The funding comes after a $900 million investment round in June.

According to a company blog post, Cursor’s current investors include Accel, DST Global, Coatue, and Google.

The company released various updates in February aimed at helping software developers. This includes the ability to test coding changes on AI agents and record actions through videos, logs, and screenshots.

Cursor did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
