Alibaba’s Qwen AI will be installed in cars, allowing drivers to order food and book hotels by voice

Pre-sales of Audi’s electric SUV, the E7X, will begin on May 8th. The vehicle will incorporate AI capabilities from ByteDance’s Doubao and iFlyTek.

BEIJING — Chinese tech giant alibaba announced Friday that its Qwen artificial intelligence model will be integrated into vehicles from the following automakers: BYD Volkswagen’s local joint venture also comes as the industry pushes to add in-vehicle digital services and compete for buyers in the slowing electric vehicle market.

The model runs on Nvidiais an automotive chip system designed to function even with limited network connectivity.

alibaba Some models will allow drivers to order food deliveries, book hotels, buy tickets to attractions, track packages and more through voice commands.

The system combines on-device processing and cloud-based computing to interpret voice commands, plan multi-step tasks, and connect to services such as payments and navigation.

Automotive companies integrating Qwen into their vehicle systems include: BYD, geely, lee auto, Chang’an, east wind, Beijing Automobile, great wall motorSAIC Volkswagen, SAIC IM Motor.

The announcement was made on the first day of the Beijing Motor Show 2026.

At the beginning of this year, FAW GroupThe Hongqi brand has integrated Qwen into its in-vehicle system and debuted as the Hongqi HS6 plug-in hybrid model.

The development comes as Chinese automakers compete to attract buyers in a slowing electric vehicle market and seek to differentiate themselves through in-vehicle software and services.

The local version of Audi in China has replaced the four-ring logo with a wordmark and announced that its second model, an electric SUV called the E7X, will go on pre-order on May 8th. This vehicle includes ByteDance’s Doubao and i fly techAudi said at the car show.

It is currently unclear whether AI features will be included in cars exported outside China.

Cadillac is an American luxury car division. general motorsalso unveiled a new model with a voice assistant function that can be connected to ByteDance’s Doubao AI.
