Anthropic has been following OpenAI since announcing ChatGPT in late 2022. Looks like we’ve finally caught up.

The artificial intelligence startup, founded five years ago by former OpenAI executives, is in talks with investors to raise money at a valuation of $900 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. No term sheet has been signed and negotiations are ongoing, said the people, who requested anonymity because the talks are private.

An Anthropic spokesperson declined to comment. Bloomberg first reported on the potential funding.

OpenAI was valued at $852 billion in its last funding round at the end of March.

Anthropic announced earlier this month that the popularity of its Claude Code product has helped its business reach $30 billion in annual revenue.

This is breaking news. Please check back for the latest information.
