antropic CNBC confirmed on Monday that its annual revenue run rate reached $65 billion at the end of July, a sevenfold increase from a year ago.

The creator of Claude, whose company has soared in popularity, shared the numbers in an update to investors over the weekend, according to three sources familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity because the details are confidential. Bloomberg first reported the $65 billion figure.

The update comes as Anthropic prepares for what is expected to be a blockbuster IPO. The company confidentially filed a prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June and is holding preliminary meetings with potential investors, but has not officially announced a timeline for its debut.

Anthropic also reported preliminary second-quarter revenue of $11.5 billion, up 14 times from a year earlier, the people said. The company declined to comment.

Anthropic announced in May that the company had a run rate of more than $47 billion, compared to approximately $10 billion in revenue it generated for the full year of 2025. As CNBC reported last week, its biggest rival, OpenAI, recently hit an annual revenue run rate of $40 billion.

Anthropic hopes to justify its $965 billion valuation and demonstrate continued momentum to investors, even in the face of significant disruption to its business. In June, Anthropic had to temporarily disable access to two of its most advanced models, the Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, to comply with an export control directive from the government citing “national security authorities.”

Although the company restored the model after nearly two weeks of tense negotiations, the resolution did little to allay concerns about Anthropic’s increasingly fraught relationship with the Trump administration. Anthropic was blacklisted by the Pentagon earlier this year as discussions over how the military could use its models spiraled out of control.

“We look forward to deepening our cooperation with the government,” Anthropic said in a blog post in June. “We’re also grateful to our users for enduring this disruption, and to our researchers and industry partners for working with us to make Fable 5 and Mythos 5 available again.”

Attention: Anthropic won’t discuss financials at early IPO investor meetings
