5 things to know before the stock market opens on Tuesday

Happy Tuesday. The Lakers’ sale, which we reported on last week, doesn’t seem to be shaping up to be a complete success. CNBC’s Alex Sherman reported yesterday that team governor Jeanie Buss is against a potential sale of her family’s stake in the Lakers.

S&P 500 futures are falling before the bell after a negative day on Wall Street.

Here are five important things investors need to know to start their trading day.

1. 30 year itch

of 30 years US Treasury Yields rose to a 19-year high yesterday. A prolonged rise in yields could indicate that bond investors are concerned about continued inflationary pressures and a widening U.S. budget deficit.

shares of home depot Shares rose 2% this morning after the home improvement retailer beat analysts’ second-quarter sales and bottom line estimates.

The company also reaffirmed its fiscal year 2026 guidance as it operates in what CFO Richard McPhail called a “frozen housing market.” MacPhail said the tariff refunds will help Home Depot “preserve value” because the returned cash will partially offset other cost pressures.

3. Daily rate

The media giants on Monday asked a judge to force states objecting to the merger to pay fees and costs associated with delayed agreements. Paramount puts the figure at $1.88 billion. The antitrust lawsuit, which involves auditing firms from more than a dozen states, is scheduled to go to trial in March.

Roughly one in four prediction market traders believe the trade will not materialize by July 2027, an increase from before AG filed its lawsuit.

4. Oh my

Nvidia $105 billion in funding for OpenAI’s new Ohio data center. The facility, located in Pike County, will be built and managed by SB Energy. Nvidia will provide the computing, with capacity expected to start coming online in 2028.

As CNBC’s Samantha Subin writes, the deal marks the chipmaker’s latest funding deal related to boosting artificial intelligence. The multibillion-dollar deal has fueled concerns about the cyclical nature of AI funding.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman also appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” earlier Monday and addressed the company’s recent wave of executive changes. Brockman said the departures of revenue chief Dennis Dresser, longtime executive Brad Lightcap and product and operations chief Fiji Simo are not unusual and are only in the spotlight because OpenAI is “getting a lot of attention.”

As new chairman disneyThe strategy of Thomas Mazloum, director of Experiences, is to strike a balance between satisfying Disney’s most loyal attendees while capturing the attention of less frequent park visitors.

Mazloum, who became Disney’s parks chief when Josh D’Amaro took over as CEO earlier this year, outlined his plans at the company’s D23 Expo last weekend. Mazloum said Disney will focus on major expansions to attract new guests, while rolling out more immediate and smaller updates to annual passholders.

Disney is already benefiting from the plan, Mazloum said, pointing to the company’s recent third-quarter results. The Experience segment’s revenue for the period reached a record of nearly $10 billion, up 10% year-over-year.

Texas’ financial industry is booming, thanks in part to the construction of AI data centers. As CNBC’s Deena Zaidi reports, Wells Fargo believes one regional bank in particular will benefit from the growth on Wyall Street.
