Happy Thursday. Breaking news this morning: Nvidia has agreed to acquire open source artificial intelligence platform Hugging Face for nearly $13 billion.

Stock futures are mixed this morning after a win on Wall Street.

Here are five important things investors need to know to start their trading day.

1. Summit Up

The G20 concluded a two-day meeting of innovation ministers yesterday, with technology leaders and government representatives discussing artificial intelligence, data centers and tariffs.

Here are some of the biggest headlines from the rally.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI will “democratize intelligence” for G20 countries, calling the technology “the great equalizer.” Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the use of AI is “non-negotiable” for countries, likening the introduction of AI to the introduction of electricity.Palantir CEO Alex Karp acknowledged that there were “huge risks” to the technology, but pushed back on what he called “messages of doom” surrounding AI. On the data center front, Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown said he “really likes” President Donald Trump’s post on Monday Truth Social, in which the president said communities that oppose data centers “want to be backward and poor.” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said data centers “bring prosperity” but have a “bad reputation.” He also downplayed the facility’s water consumption. Catch up on all the biggest moments here.

2. Bond, John Bond

4. Funding risks

A former senior adviser to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for lying to federal investigators about sharing restricted central bank information with Chinese intelligence agents.

The Justice Department said in a legal opinion this week that states must report illegal immigrants to the Department of Homeland Security or risk losing federal funding for programs focused on helping low-income people.

As CNBC’s Dan Mangan points out, the opinion corrects an earlier opinion from 1998 that said only certain states administering the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Supplemental Security Income programs were required to provide information to federal immigration authorities.

Assistant Attorney General T. Elliot Geyser said in a statement that states participating in the Temporary Assistance Program have a “duty to report illegal aliens” in the United States, adding that “taxes intended to help vulnerable Americans should not perversely encourage illegal immigration into the United States.”

5. Pickup in production environment

production of ford’s So-called “super duty” trucks hit a 20-year high last month. Ford said it produced more than 39,000 units of the highly profitable car in August, the highest level since March 2006. Ford also announced that production of its F-150 pickup truck is at its highest level in two years.

As CNBC’s Michael Weiland reports, this turnaround comes after a fire at an aluminum supplier significantly disrupted production of Ford’s F-Series trucks. Rob Kafle, Ford’s U.S. sales manager, said production increases will start appearing on dealer lots “within the next 30, 60, 90 days.”

“I would say the total inventory of incoming products is getting back to normal, back to the normal levels that dealers have,” he said.
