human It has more cash than almost every other company in America.
The six-year-old artificial intelligence institute disclosed Monday in an S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it had $112.4 billion in cash as of June 30, plus an additional $19.3 billion in short-term investments.
Anthropic’s $131.7 billion total exceeds all non-bank U.S. companies except: Berkshire Hathaway and alphabetaccording to data compiled by CNBC and S&P Capital IQ.
As of mid-year, Anthropic had more cash. Amazon, space x, Metaand microsoft. There was more than that Nvidia and apple Combined.
Depending on how much money the company raises in its initial public offering, Anthropic’s cash holdings could reach more than $230 billion.
So far, Anthropic has not provided specific details about the size of its offering, saying in its filing that existing investors will also pitch into the IPO, meaning the company itself will not collect the entire financing. These details are expected to be made public within approximately two weeks.
No company has ever gone public with this much cash.
Anthropic’s assets highlight its fundraising capabilities, which have enabled it to amass a total of $141 billion in private capital in just six years since its founding. However, given that the company’s future commitments to computing power have not yet covered expenses, Anthropic will need to continue accumulating cash through fundraising and profit generation to meet its obligations.
Anthropic’s first half computing and infrastructure spending totaled $8.95 billion. But the company said it typically purchases computing power 12 to 18 months in advance and recognizes costs only when that capacity is available. That means first-half spending doesn’t capture the full size of future debt.
As of June 30, Anthropic disclosed estimated future undiscounted lease obligations of $321.4 billion and future fixed or minimum guaranteed commitments of $265.6 billion, totaling more than $5 trillion. These will begin within the next few years and will range in duration from one to 20 years.
Additionally, the company announced that it has entered into new and amended agreements beginning June 30 with future payment obligations of at least approximately $245 billion.
The company has not yet disclosed the total amount of its latest commitment.
If money is king at Anthropic, computing is its biggest claim to the crown.
