Jim Cramer’s CNBC Investment Club hosts a “Morning Meeting” livestream weekdays at 10:20 a.m. ET. A recap of Thursday’s key moments. 1. Stocks fell on Thursday as disappointing financial results from several big technology companies weighed on the market. Alphabet fell after missing revenue expectations despite strong growth from Google Cloud. Its core search business fell short of expectations for the second consecutive quarter. Microsoft succumbed to the decline in technology stocks despite an initially high but strong quarter. Azure revenue growth accelerated. Jim Cramer praised Microsoft’s ability to grow its AI business while maintaining financial discipline, especially as Alphabet faces concerns about negative free cash flow. “Today is a day of opportunity,” Jim said, arguing that investors are indiscriminately selling strong companies alongside weak ones. “There are a lot of bad deals and a lot of triggers that people don’t know what to do.” After the bell, Amazon and Intel will report earnings. 2. Eli Lilly’s stock soared to an all-time high on Thursday after a solid beat-and-raise quarter, driven by continued demand for the company’s blockbuster obesity and diabetes drugs. Jim spoke with CEO David Ricks on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” and highlighted the company’s efforts to address one of the biggest challenges facing weight loss drugs: patients discontinuing treatment due to unpleasant side effects. Lilly is developing new treatments to improve tolerability and help patients stay on their medications for longer. Jim also noted that the success of the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program has brought more patients into this category, with Lilly receiving 7 out of 10 new participants. 3. FedEx reported better-than-expected quarterly results on Wednesday and raised its full-year profit outlook, but profits were held back by weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter guidance. Jim, however, said rising transportation, labor and aircraft maintenance costs are weighing on short-term profitability, and CEO Raj Subramaniam remains confident that domestic margins will improve in 2027 as the company streamlines its operations. Jim also expressed optimism about the upcoming holiday shopping season, predicting that FedEx will surpass rival UPS for the first time. FedEx Freight, which spun off from FedEx in June, will report earnings after the bell. (Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust is long GOOGL, MSFT, AMZN, INTC, LLY, FDX, FDXF.
