LONDON — European stock markets are expected to start mixed on Wednesday, with all eyes on U.S. President Donald Trump’s speech at the World Economic Forum.

Trump is scheduled to speak at the WEF at 1:30 p.m. London time, and CNBC’s Joe Kernen will also interview him in Davos.

The president’s speech will be closely watched as it comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and its European allies over the Danish territory of Greenland, which President Trump hopes to purchase.

On Tuesday, President Trump declined to elaborate on what efforts he would make to achieve his goal of making Greenland part of the United States, telling reporters, “We’ll see.”

President Trump has not ruled out military action to seize Greenland and has threatened to impose new tariffs if European countries block the bid.

CNBC will interview a wide range of CEOs, including JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, as well as government and business officials, as well as political leaders, including Polish President Karol Naworocki. Check out all our Davos coverage here.
