Fully remote work is growing fastest in 15 areas, according to new report

Fully remote jobs aren’t as easy to find as they were during the pandemic-induced remote work boom. But they’re still there.

Recent data from FlexJobs, a job site for remote jobs, shows these fully remote jobs are the fastest growing sector.

“Workers want to work remotely,” Career Expert manager Toni Frana told CNBC Make It. Companies “understand that it makes sense to offer flexible working options, such as remote work, to attract and retain talent.”

In FlexJobs’ Remote Work Index, 85% of professionals cite remote work as the biggest factor in applying for a job, even more so than competitive pay and benefits.

FlexJobs analyzed over 60 career categories, compared the total number of 100% remote jobs from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, and identified the 15 fastest growing areas for fully remote jobs. At FlexJobs, we define a “fully remote job” as a professional-level role where someone can perform their duties entirely from home. Each sector saw at least a 19% increase in fully remote job openings in 2025.

The FlexJobs report notes that the list “excludes long-standing leaders in remote fields” such as IT, customer service, and project management roles to highlight emerging areas where remote work is growing rapidly.

“There are remote opportunities, but the competition for each remote role is pretty high,” says Frana. To improve their chances, workers applying for these positions should focus on learning the skills that are in high demand in these roles and demonstrating their impact in previous roles on their resumes and interviews. Especially for remote roles, candidates also want to demonstrate that they can “work really effectively as independently as possible, with less oversight from managers,” Frana says.

According to a report from FlexJobs, the 15 areas where fully remote work is growing the fastest are:
