LONDON — European stock markets are expected to open lower on Tuesday as investors focus on earnings.

british FTSE The index opened 0.2% lower, with Germany’s dachshundFrench CAC40 and italian FTSE MIB All are expected to have declined by 0.4%, according to IG data.

Regional markets edged higher on Monday as investors digested comments from this year’s Munich Security Conference.

Returns remain the focus for investors and miners antofagasta and BHP Group Scheduled to report on Tuesday InterContinental Hotels Group and Essilor Lux Otica. Data releases include German inflation and economic sentiment, and the UK unemployment rate.

The S&P 500 futures index was nearly flat overnight after the benchmark was negative for the second consecutive week. US markets were closed on Monday for President’s Day.

Asian financial markets traded cautiously on Tuesday as mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea’s markets were closed for the Lunar New Year holiday, dampening holiday trading.
