Just Capital’s annual list of America’s “Fairest” Companies ranks the Russell 1000 globally using a poll-based methodology that has surveyed nearly 200,000 Americans since 2015, asking them to identify and prioritize the issues they believe will most contribute to fair business conduct.

To create the 2026 Just Capital rankings, research spanned 17 core issues, 85 overall underlying data points and 36 sector-specific data points, and five stakeholder groups: workers, communities, shareholders and governance, customers, and the environment.

Corporate boards are facing greater uncertainty than at any time in recent history, from geopolitics to the age of inflation to the rise of artificial intelligence. At the same time, under the second Trump administration, companies took steps to backtrack on ESG and DEI.

Amid growing pressure to achieve returns and avoid politics, making ‘fair’ investments remains a focus. But changes are underway in where these investments are made to maximize future returns for corporate stakeholders, from investors to workers and communities.
