2024 Lincoln Nautilus

ford

ford motor announced Wednesday that it will increase production of Lincoln vehicles in the United States starting in 2030.

The company also announced it would phase out vehicle imports from China for the U.S. market, which it said would “further strengthen Ford’s position as America’s number one auto producer.”

Ford has announced that it will import the next-generation Lincoln Nautilus from China in 2023, marking the first time the brand has brought a vehicle from China to the United States.

The company said Lincoln Navigator and Aviator models are currently being assembled at factories in Louisville, Kentucky and Chicago, respectively, and both models will continue to be exported to markets such as Canada, Mexico and the Middle East. Ford said it expects the production increase to create “thousands of jobs directly and indirectly in the United States.”

“Lincoln is a quintessentially American brand and Ford is an American automaker,” CEO Jim Farley said in a statement. “It hasn’t necessarily been the easiest path, in fact, one that few of our competitors would take. But Ford builds in America because we believe in America, and we’re betting on that belief again.”

The announcement comes as Ford has been promoting manufacturing in the United States, especially against the backdrop of President Donald Trump’s auto tariffs and uncertainty over the USMCA North American trade agreement.

Farley previously told CNBC that he would like to see the award go to Ford, which makes most of its cars domestically, and other automakers that rely on imported vehicles. general motors and toyota motors — Further penalties should be imposed.

Ford reported assembling more than 2 million vehicles in the United States last year, more than any other automaker, including 311,000 for export to more than 60 international markets.
