Amyryx Pharmaceuticals — Shares soared 53% after the drug company announced that its abexitide treatment met its primary endpoint and all secondary endpoints in its Phase 3 trial. Abexitide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist for the treatment of postbariatric hypoglycemia. Metaplatform — Facebook’s parent company’s stock fell 3%. A high-stakes trial begins Tuesday, with multiple states suing Meth for allegedly harming children and teens. Mehta’s lawyers have previously said the case could result in damages as high as $1.4 trillion. Carvana — Shares of the online auto retailer fell more than 3% following stock sales by two board members. Late last week, Director Danforth Quayle sold 14,525 shares of the company’s stock, and Director Ira Pratt sold 30,000 shares, according to the company’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday. UGI Corp. — The company’s stock price soared more than 12%. The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that KKR has made a $9 billion bid to acquire UGI. Trading was temporarily suspended due to stock price fluctuations. Artificial Intelligence Stocks — Stocks tied to AI development efforts fell sharply in Tuesday trading as investors took a risk-off stance. Photonics stocks Coherent and Lumentum fell about 12% and 9%, respectively. Optical network stock Ciena fell about 10%, and Teradyne stock fell 9%. Shares of AI cloud computing giant Coreweave also fell 9%. Klarna — Buy now, pay later shares fell 21% following a weak outlook for the third quarter and full year. Sales were also 31.33 billion yuan (4.64 billion USD), lower than the expected 31.78 billion yuan (4.71 billion USD). Home Depot — Shares rose slightly after the home improvement retailer reported better-than-expected second-quarter results on sales and bottom line and reaffirmed its full-year outlook. Adjusted earnings per share were $4.92, beating analysts’ estimates of $4.73 compiled by LSEG. Revenue was $47.86 billion, exceeding expectations of $47.27 billion. Fabrinet — The optical products maker’s stock price fell more than 20%. Fabrinet said the company expects to experience temporary margin headwinds in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 due to the seasonality of normal first-quarter expenses, according to Street accounts. Memory stocks — Memory chip makers fell as a group, with shares of Micron Technology and SK Hynix dropping nearly 7% and 8%, respectively. SanDisk’s stock price also fell by more than 8%.
