Interest Rates and Bond ETF Yields The yield on the US 30-year Treasury note is at its highest level in 19 years. Germany’s 30-year bond yield has hit its highest level since 2011, while France’s 30-year bond has hit its highest level in about 18 years. UK 30-year government bond yields are close to May’s levels, the highest since 1998. The yield on six-month U.S. Treasury bills is just under 4%, and the yield on one-year Treasuries rose above 4% last week. Tuesday night was just below that mark. The Fidelity Corporate Bond ETF (FCOR) has a yield of 4.68%. The iShares 0-5 Year High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (SHYG) has a yield of 7%. The State Street SPDR Bloomberg High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) has a yield of 6.62%. The iShares iBoxx High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) has a yield of 5.89%. The CraneShares Asia-Pacific High Income USD Bond ETF (KHYB) was yielding about 9% on Tuesday night. US30Y 5D Mountain U.S. 30-Year Treasury Bond Trends over the Past 5 Business Days Fed Minutes Wednesday at 2:00 PM ET CNBC Economics Correspondent Steve Liesman will have the details. Cramer, Chips and Shorts Mad Money’s Jim Cramer reports that data shows short activity is near all-time highs. Semiconductor stocks reacted to the rise in interest rates on Tuesday. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) fell 4.1% on the day. This is 15% from the June 22 high. Teradyne fell nearly 9%, Marvell fell nearly 8% and Micron fell 7% on Tuesday. TER 5D Mountain Teradyne Momentum Stocks and Rates Over the Past 5 Business Days The iShares MSCI USA Momentum Factor ETF (MTUM) is down 10% from its June 22 high. Micron, AMD, Broadcom, Intel, Caterpillar, ExxonMobil, Lam Research, Johnson & Johnson, GE Vernova, and Applied Materials are MTUM’s largest holdings. Tech stocks and interest rates The two worst S&P sectors over the past two days were communications services and information technology. Both are down more than 2% so far this week. Target The retail giant is broadcasting live on “Squawk Box” on Wednesday mornings. Becky Quick, who has a keen eye for retail, will be joined by Andrew Ross Sorkin and Joe Kernen to find out the results and reactions. Stocks are broken. Target is up 82% from November’s lows. The stock is up 56% so far in 2026. As of Tuesday night, Target was down 2.5% from last week’s high. TGT YTD Mountain 2026 Goals Home improvement retailer Lowe’s reports a day after Home Depot’s win. Lowe’s is down 1% in three months, and its stock is down 26% from its February high. Estee Lauder cosmetics company also reported on “Squawk Box” on Wednesday. Estée Lauder is up 5% in the past three months. That’s 31% from February’s high. Last 3 Months EL 3M Mountain Estée Lauder Ah, Canada! The Trump administration may be about to impose new 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of goods from its neighbor to the north. The iShares MSCI Canada ETF (EWC) hit a new high on Monday. The ETF is up 30% in 12 months and 7% in three months. US Energy Marathon Petroleum, Phillips 66, Targa Resources and Valero hit new highs on Tuesday, while One Ok also hit a 52-week high. Marathon Petroleum rose about 16% in August and is up 41% in three months. Phillips 66 rose 15% in August. Targa Resources rose 10% in August. Valero rose about 12% in August. One Ok rose nearly 7% in August. Chartmaster Carter Wirth, of “Fast Money” fame, said his numbers show that refiner stocks are in a period of decline. This requirement applies only to refiners, not energy as a whole. USUS diesel refining margin diesel crack hit a record high of $102.20 per barrel on Tuesday. The major reasons for this are disruptions in shipping in the Middle East and Russia and a significant increase in demand for shipping. Gasoline futures have risen 17% over the past two weeks.
