Maria Bartiromo is disputing reports that she was fired from her longtime job as host of various segments on the cable television networks FOX News and FOX Business.
“The irresponsible news reports announcing that Maria Bartiromo has been fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are completely and unequivocally false,” her attorney said in a statement Friday. “Make no mistake about it. We have the receipts and the witnesses and they will come out eventually, whether through the courts or not. Those who are reporting her firing and the incredible facts that support that fiction are showing a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”
In response to Bartiromo’s comments on Friday, Fox News said a brief statement from the previous day “says it all.”
On Thursday, fox companyFox News Media announced that Bartiromo is parting ways with its network.
Fox News said in a statement Thursday, “We thank Malia for her work over the past 12 and a half years and wish her the best in her next chapter,” but did not provide a reason or reason for her resignation.
Various media outlets subsequently reported that Bartiromo had been fired for violating company regulations.
Bartiromo, a former CNBC anchor, led the daily show “Mornings with Maria” and the Friday show “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” on the FOX Business Network. She also led Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” Conservative network Fox News is the highest-rated cable TV news channel in the United States
Bartiromo was one of the Fox News anchors named in the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit, in which the company accused Fox of making false claims on air that Dominion helped rig the 2020 presidential election that Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden.
Mr. Bartiromo was scheduled to testify as a witness if the case went to trial, but Fox agreed to pay $787.5 million to settle the case in 2023. Fox faces an ongoing defamation lawsuit similar to Smartmatic USA, which also names Bartiromo as a defendant.
