Sports legend LeBron James speaks at the CNBC Game Plan Summit in New York City on July 16, 2026.

Superstar athlete LeBron James teased an upcoming partnership with prediction market platform Polymarket in a social media post on Saturday.

James posted a 14-second video on social media platform X that appears to be an advertisement for Polymarket. “Welcome to Polymarket HQ. Coming soon. In partnership with @Polymarket,” James wrote.

In the video, the basketball legend appears in an elevator at Polymarket’s headquarters and heads to the company’s sports floor.

The post teases a larger football-focused campaign between James and Polimarket, according to the people who spoke to CNBC on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. Further details are expected to be announced within the next week, the official added.

Terms of James’ contract with Polymarket were not disclosed. NBA rules limit players’ financial interests in companies that offer league-related gambling and similar products, including ownership restrictions.

Representatives for James and Polymarket declined to comment beyond James’ Saturday post.

James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, announced in July that he would join the Philadelphia 76ers for his record-extending 24th season and final chapter of his career. James did not disclose the terms of his contract, but ESPN previously reported that he signed a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option, which is a significant pay cut from the more than $50 million he earned with the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

The 2026-2027 NBA season is scheduled to begin in mid-October.

The four-time NBA champion joins a growing list of star athletes and sports leagues to partner with prediction market platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi. Prediction markets allow users to trade contracts tied to whether future events, including sports outcomes, will occur.

Earlier this year, Miami Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo became a Calci shareholder and agreed to participate in marketing and live events. Carsi said his stock is passive and its rules prohibit him from trading in NBA-related markets. Athletes, teams and leagues also have contracts with Carsi.

Polymarket, on the other hand, has partnerships with top leagues such as Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball, and the National Hockey League, as well as professional teams such as MLB’s New York Yankees and NHL’s New York Rangers.

Polymarket is restructuring its marketing operations under new leadership ahead of a busy fall sports calendar, CNBC previously reported.

The company recently hired former employee Travis VanderZanden. Uber Technologies and liftfounder and chief growth officer of e-scooter startup Bird. He will oversee Polymarket’s marketing, CNBC reported.

Disclosure: CNBC and Kalsi have a commercial relationship that includes customer acquisition and minority ownership.
