Bernstein said now is the time to buy up Shopify stock, as the company is poised to bounce back from the artificial intelligence-driven selloff. The bank has started covering e-commerce companies with outperform ratings. The $160 price target implies an upside of 26% from Thursday’s closing price. Shopify struggled in 2026, dropping 21% during its so-called SaaSpocalyse as investors sold their software stocks over concerns they would lose market share to AI. But analyst Mark Schmulik said the risks appear overstated because the company is “at the center of a technology Venn diagram that spans e-commerce, software and payments.” “No matter what headwinds Shopify faces…AI will further lower the barrier to entry and expand the market for the next generation of builders. Count on Shopify to be there to make those commerce dreams a reality,” Shmulik wrote to customers. “Shopify is a name we want to round up to be reclassified as an AI winner,” he said, adding that the company’s second quarter report shows strength going forward. On August 5, the company reported profit and sales that exceeded analysts’ expectations. Third-quarter earnings guidance also beat consensus. The stock rose more than 2% premarket. Most analysts covering the stock are bullish. According to LSEG data, 38 out of 50 people rate Shopify as a “buy” or “strong buy.”
