Fast fashion company stocks Shane Shares fell as much as 10% in Hong Kong following news that one of the company’s contact lens products had been recalled in Australia and New Zealand.

“Samples of these contact lenses tested positive for Burkholderia cepacia complex, a bacterial contaminant detected in the solution in which the lenses are packaged,” New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment said in a statement Friday.

“Exposure to this bacteria can pose a risk of eye infection and irritation, and incidents have been reported in the UK of users developing eye infections,” it added.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission also announced a similar recall.

The news comes after the fast fashion retailer’s rocky debut in Hong Kong earlier this month. Shine has made a name for itself by bringing low-priced clothing and new designs to market quickly, but its low-priced models in Europe and the United States are facing challenges from tariffs and regulatory changes.

Marguerite Lerolland, senior global insights manager for fashion at market intelligence firm Euromonitor International, said earlier this month that Shein needs to redefine its value proposition beyond “low prices and a certain amount of newness.”

LeRoland also said that Shein needs to improve its brand image as regulators and public opinion become increasingly critical of the company. ”

Shein’s Hong Kong-listed shares fell 9.49% to HK$36.26.
