FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — NBA superstar Stephen Curry announced Thursday that a new signature shoe he is co-designing with Lee Ning will debut early next year.

Curry announced in June that he had signed a deal with the Chinese shoe company, ending a 13-year partnership with Under Armor.

“I think it’s been a great run,” Curry said of his relationship. under armoradded that the decision to end the relationship was “mutual.”

“Sometimes all good things come to an end,” he said. “I don’t regret anything about what happened.”

Curry said he is looking for longevity, tradition and global reach in his new partner. He signed a 10-year, $400 million contract with Li-Ning, according to ESPN.

“We literally tried everything, but there’s a reason Li-Ning stood tall in the end, and that’s because the product reigned supreme,” he said.

The four-time NBA champion said he was also influenced by Golden State Warriors teammate Jimmy Butler and former NBA player Dwyane Wade, who also represent Li-Ning.

Curry said he will wear Li-Ning shoes designed by Butler and Wade until his own products are released.

always a warrior

Curry, entering his 18th NBA season, said he has no plans to try free agency or retire when his contract expires in 2027, saying he wants to remain with the Golden State Warriors.

“I want to be a part of Golden State,” Curry said. “What we’ve built there and the fact that we can build it back with Draymond (Green) and Coach Kerr…My interest and mission is to stay here and be competitive….The contract issues will resolve themselves.”

Curry admitted that he tried to recruit LeBron James to the Warriors after the former Laker announced he was leaving the team. According to various media reports, James ultimately signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

“I think they’d be fools if someone didn’t (try to scout him),” Curry said. “It was a good time for the NBA, obviously for a player of his stature and name recognition to be in a position to choose where he wants to go.”

Curry spoke to CNBC from an event at Bethpage Black Golf Course on the Underrated Golf Tour, a national junior golf circuit he founded to provide access to young and underrepresented golfers.

Curry said he is in negotiations. VersantGolf Channel, which is owned by , will televise the tournament for the first time next year.

Disclosure: CNBC and Golf Channel are divisions of Versant Media.
