Darden’s earnings of $2.05 a share met expectations, but its $3.2 billion in revenue fell slightly short of the $3.21 billion expected by analysts polled by FactSet. The company also reaffirmed its full-year outlook. MGM Resorts International — Shares fell more than 9% after Barry Dillard’s People withdrew its offer to buy the casino giant. Mr. Diller said, “I didn’t feel it was structured the way I expected,” but expressed confidence in the company, which still holds 66.8 million shares. BlackBerry — The Canadian software and services company rose 2% following its second quarter results. BlackBerry reported adjusted earnings of 7 cents per share, beating the 4 cents expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet. Revenue was $163.3 million, compared to the consensus estimate of $142.5 million. Meta — The tech giant fell 2% after rising nearly 12% so far this week on optimism about its Muse AI agent. CEO Mark Zuckerberg late Wednesday announced the Muse Charm, a handheld device that works with the company’s $1,299 Meta VR glasses and Muse. KNIFE RIVER – Shares rose 5% after a report in the Wall Street Journal that activist investor Starboard Value acquired a significant stake in a construction materials and contracting services company. Starboard reportedly wants Knife River to improve its profit margins or potentially consider a sale. Everpure — The data management and storage company rose 6.7% following positive results from the Financial Analysts Conference and 2028 Interim Guidance. Everpure expects 2028 sales to be between $7 billion and $7.3 billion, higher than the $6.19 billion expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet. Non-GAAP operating income guidance also exceeded expectations. Gold Miner — Gold Miner stock fell along with gold futures, earlier hitting its lowest since September 16 at 4,285.0. Kinross Gold was down nearly 4%, while Newmont and IamGold were down about 1%.
