U.S. government officials, business leaders and their spouses made up most of the list of more than 100 people attending Thursday’s state dinner, according to a White House press release.
The Chinese delegation was made up mainly of government officials and was accompanied by Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump and his wife.
In his toast, Xi said his meeting with President Trump had “added new content” to U.S.-China relations, according to the official translation. President Trump presented Xi with a bald eagle statue.

Meta Other major U.S. technology companies included OpenAI. Humanity was not on the list.
The two-course menu included silky yellow pumpkin velouté with crispy pancetta, sesame-crusted sea bass over braised bok choy, and fruit-shaped vanilla cremeux with ice cream made with White House honey.
Other attendees included members of Trump’s family, including first lady Melania Trump’s father, Victor Knabs.
Initially, Chinese business leaders were scheduled to attend the dinner. CNBC earlier reported that a person briefed on the preparations but not authorized to speak on the record said he was unaware of any Chinese companies invited to accompany Xi on his visit.
President Xi will be the first state guest to visit the United States since President Barack Obama more than a decade ago. He is scheduled to arrive in the United States on Wednesday and depart on Friday.
