Stock futures were little changed Sunday night as investors remained frustrated by rising U.S. Treasury yields and waited minutes into the Federal Reserve’s latest meeting for clues on the central bank’s next interest rate move.

futures Increased by 53 points (0.1%) in conjunction with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P500 futures It rose by 0.1%. Nasdaq 100 futures It was up 0.2%.

In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average rose more than 1.7%, while the broader Topix rose 0.79%. australian benchmark S&P/ASX 200 It was 0.53% higher. Markets in mainland China and South Korea were closed for public holidays.

On Friday, US stocks ended the week higher. Dow Added 250 points (0.5%) to end at 51,176.46. S&P500 It rose 0.7% to 7,722.72. High-tech oriented Nasdaq Composite It rose 1.2% to 27,190.86 after hitting a record high early in the session.

Stocks have been trending lower this week, defined by a spike in U.S. Treasury yields and a surprisingly lackluster jobs report that allayed concerns about the Federal Reserve’s further interest rate hikes this month. The statistics provided some relief after a week of pressure from rising bond yields.

Still, U.S. Treasury yields remain a key focus for investors. 10 year yield The rate has risen to its highest level in more than 20 years, raising concerns that rising borrowing costs could weigh on stock prices even if the Federal Reserve leaves interest rates unchanged in the short term.

Friday’s gains were led by tech stocks, with Nvidia hitting a new intraday high and the Nasdaq hitting a new all-time high. Investors will be watching to see if that momentum carries into the new week.

With the economy likely to be weak going forward, investors will be paying close attention to geopolitics and market trends before earnings season begins.

“The thin data calendar means investors are reacting to the ebb and flow of geopolitical and market-specific trends coinciding with the latest batch of moderately supportive economic reports, ahead of the unofficial start of reporting season with JPMorgan’s October 13 results,” said Gary Schlossberg, global strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute.

On Monday, investors will focus on the Supply Management Association’s Service Activity Report. Also scheduled are minutes from the Federal Reserve’s September meeting on Wednesday and the University of Michigan’s October Consumer Confidence report on Friday.

Constellation Brands, Levi Strauss, PepsiCo, Delta Air Lines and more continue to be in the spotlight this week heading into the current earnings season.
