The New York Stock Exchange becomes the second major exchange to announce extended-hours options trading for high-volume ETFs and individual stocks, following the CBOE’s announcement that it will introduce extended-hours trading for 25 individual stocks and five ETFs.

Extended options trading hours on the NYSE, owned and operated by. intercontinental exchangebegins Monday and will operate from 7:30 a.m. ET to 9:25 a.m. ET, with a new late trading session running from 4 p.m. ET to 4:15 p.m. ET.

29 major stocks and funds are available for extended trading. Nvidia, bank of america, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust and iShares Russell 2000 ETF.

Starting December 6, 2026, the NYSE will extend trading hours under the same name to 23 hours, five days a week.

“The market has changed significantly in recent years, and such progress can only occur if we continue to invest in technology,” Kevin Tyrrell, chief product officer at the New York Stock Exchange, said in a statement. “The extension of options trading hours reflects market demand for long-term investment opportunities and reliable risk management.”

The new product offerings from the NYSE reflect the growing demand for derivatives products among traders and the strong demand for 24/7 trading products. Cryptocurrency was the first asset class to offer continuous trading. These days, prediction markets and perpetual futures offer 24/7 schedules and unique exposure across sought-after areas of the market.

CBOE data confirms the increased appetite for trading beyond regular trading. Following this year’s steady growth and explosion of activity, extended-hour trading just reached an all-time high of more than 199,000 contracts per day on average.

Volume was very low in the stock market’s first extended session on Monday. Ahead of this Wednesday’s earnings report, Tesla options trading is experiencing significant trading volume. According to SpotGamma data, there were just over 3,000 contracts traded, and nearly all call contracts (in which traders are likely rolling positions) had a total value of less than $100,000.
