apple As part of its domestic manufacturing expansion, the company has added a titanium supplier in the United States for the new iPhone Duo and is expanding domestic production of camera parts for the iPhone 18 Pro.

The company announced Tuesday that it will commit up to $100 million over the next three years to Houston, Pennsylvania-based Perryman to produce titanium used in Apple products, including the $1,999 Duo foldable device.

Since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term, Apple has been vocal about its efforts to increase investment in the United States, even though the final assembly of most iPhones remains overseas. Last August, Apple launched the American Manufacturing Program (AMP), increasing its domestic spending plan by $100 billion to a total of $600 billion. Tim Cook, who until last month was Apple’s CEO, appeared at the White House to make the announcement as President Trump pressured iPhone makers and other tech giants to ramp up production in the United States.

This latest announcement comes as Apple faces severe supply constraints for its first foldable phone, which goes on sale in stores Friday.

Morgan Stanley said online delivery estimates for some Duo models were about 14 weeks on the first day of pre-orders, making it the longest wait time Morgan Stanley has recorded for a new iPhone. Apple said Friday that pre-order demand was “nothing short of extraordinary” but did not say whether it had plans to ramp up production.

JPMorgan analysts expect Apple to ship about 8 million to 9 million Duo devices this year, down from the roughly 10 million originally expected due to supply constraints. Apple did not say whether the agreement with Perryman would increase production capacity in the near term.

Perryman will melt, forge and roll grade 5 titanium, which Apple says will contain at least 80% recycled material. Apple says the Duo’s enclosure is made of titanium, making it durable.

Perryman employees work with spools of titanium used in iPhones as part of the Made in America program.

In addition to Perryman’s announcement, Apple announced Tuesday that it is expanding its partnership with the Delaware-based company. Kuniti Electronicsmanufactures the advanced film used in the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable aperture camera system. This feature allows the phone’s main camera to adjust the amount of light entering the lens depending on conditions, giving users more control over light and depth.

Apple said nearly 100 parts used in the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro are manufactured by U.S. companies across more than a dozen states.

“We’re excited to expand our collaboration with the companies that manufacture advanced materials and components for our newest iPhone lineup here in the U.S.,” Sabi Khan, Apple’s executive officer, said in a statement.

Apple also highlighted investments with other AMP partners, including: broadcom For US chips, corning Special glass used for iPhone and Apple Watch, Amkoris building a semiconductor packaging and test facility in Peoria, Arizona.

For Duo, questions remain about whether Apple will be able to produce enough phones to meet demand for the phones, which are facing unusually long wait times before they hit store shelves.
