Speculation rises over possible merger between Tesla and SpaceX

Prior to the earnings release, investors will be asked to submit questions on a conference call. One entry that received many upvotes concerned the timing of the merger between SpaceX and Musk’s automaker Tesla.
Musk’s companies have had business and financial relationships over the years, and shared personnel and some board members.
Tesla invested $2 billion in xAI, which was later converted into SpaceX stock. SpaceX’s AI division also spent about $430 million on Tesla’s Megapack, a battery energy storage system, and $143 million on the Cybertruck last year.
With SpaceX going public in June, speculation has swirled about a more permanent partnership. SpaceX Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC ahead of the IPO that the merger “may make Elon’s life a little bit easier.”
A demonstration of Tesla’s next-generation Roadster last week added to the excitement of the merger among Musk fans. The new Roadster was co-developed with SpaceX and incorporates the company’s technology, including cold gas thrusters, allowing it to launch, hover and invert in the air.
