Anthropic combines Claude chat and Cowork into one interface

Anthropic has integrated Claude chat with Cowork’s front end to reduce confusion when deciding which tabs to use for different tasks.

A unified interface allows users to access Chat, Cowork, and Artifacts (Claude’s interactive workspace features) within a single window. Claude Design, introduced in April for website and prototype design, also works anywhere within Claude.

The company said that before this rollout, customers often struggled to select the right tab for the right task. With the new design, Claude automatically routes requests without switching tabs or windows. The idea is to remove confusion about which features to choose and route work to different parts of your app using only one front end.

We hope that OpenAI also takes a cue from this rollout and fixes ChatGPT’s interface across its platforms.

Anthropic also adds dedicated features for creating presentations and documents. Users can ask the AI assistant to create, edit, and present slides, and can also download the generated presentations as PDF or PowerPoint.

Similarly, the documentation feature allows users to create sections with Claude, ask questions, and comment on completed parts. Users can share the generated documents or slides using links and edit them on their mobile phones.

Users can also ask Claude to start creating a document on their desktop, or use the mobile app to check the progress of the task.

These features will roll out first to Claude’s Pro and Max plans on the web, desktop, and mobile in the coming weeks. The company plans to expand them to free and team tiers later.

This update comes in the wake of an upgrade to Cowork’s memory layer that helps Claude remember a user’s context across chats.
