President Donald Trump nominated attorney and conservative commentator Katie Zacharias on Sunday. Trump’s media and technologyAppointed as the next White House press secretary.
“Tomorrow, Columbus Day, I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharias will begin her term as Press Secretary and will hold an introductory press conference in the White House Briefing Room on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.,” the president said in a post on Truth Social.
“Katie has been with me mentally from the beginning and will do a great job!” he added.
Zakaria replaces Caroline Levitt, who described herself as a “hard-line Trump supporter” and left the Trump administration at the end of August. Levitt went on maternity leave after giving birth to her second child earlier this year. She will join Fox News as an on-air contributor next month.
Zakaria has been working since June as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media, which owns the president’s favorite social media site Truth Social, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Her profile also indicates that she serves as general counsel for Fix California, a conservative activist group founded by Richard Grenell, Trump’s special envoy and former director of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Zakaria completed a two-month stint as Department of Homeland Security spokesperson in March, according to his LinkedIn page.
Zakaria’s IMDb page lists dozens of appearances on Fox News political talk shows and other conservative news outlets.
