Bukayo Saka has agreed a new five-year contract with Arsenal.

Saka’s previous contract was due to expire in June 2027, but he has finalized a new and improved package until 2031.

Sky Sports News understands that clubs in the Premier League and across Europe were monitoring his situation at Arsenal, but the player always wanted to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international has become a key player for his boyhood club under manager Mikel Arteta and has appeared more than any other Arsenal player since taking over in 2019.

He has played a total of 290 games for the Gunners, scoring 77 goals this season, including seven in 27 games across all competitions.

Saka has been a key contributor to Arsenal’s title challenges in recent seasons, most notably in 2023/24, when he contributed 20 goals and 14 assists in all competitions as the Gunners finished two points behind Manchester City in the Premier League.

Arsenal have signed several players to new deals in recent months, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly also committing their futures to the club.

Saka, like Nwaneri and Lewis Skelly, comes from Arsenal’s Hale End Academy and joined the club aged seven.

“Saka is a real one-club man”

Sky Sports News Chief Correspondent Kaveh Solhekol:

“This is great news for Arsenal.

“His contract was due to expire next summer, so it was very wise for Arsenal to conclude this deal early so that they didn’t end up in a situation where they had to deal with it at that point.

“He’s been at Arsenal since he was seven years old and gives the impression that he’s a real one-club man. It’s hard to imagine him wearing another club’s shirt.”

Saka firmly establishes himself among the Premier League’s best squad

Analysis by Sky Sports’ Nick Wright:

Arsenal spent nearly £300m on new signings in the summer transfer window, but securing Bukayo Saka’s future could be their most important task this season.

The 24-year-old academy product has become something of a talisman for the club. He captained the team in Martin Odegaard’s absence and remains an integral part of the team’s attack, with Arsenal consistently turning to him to drive games from the right.

No other player has had such an impact under Arteta. In addition to having played more Premier League appearances than any of his team-mates under the Spaniard, he ranks first for goals, assists, shots and chances created, underscoring his all-round threat.

There is no doubting his place among the Premier League’s elite. Only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Olly Watkins have contributed more goal involvement since the start of the 2021/22 season.

His groin injury was a major factor in his exit from Arsenal last season, but he has returned to his best form and reached the halfway point of the new campaign. Although the squad has increased in depth due to summer signings, Saka remains an important player and his future at the club is guaranteed.
