Arsenal are interested in signing Georgia Stanway, with the England international set to leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires this summer.

Sky Sports News understands that early talks have taken place between the Gunners and Stanway, but there is also interest from other WSL clubs.

The midfielder will leave Bayern at the end of the season, but could sign a pre-contract with a club abroad this month.

The 27-year-old’s summer departure from Bayern was confirmed on Saturday, meaning she leaves after four years at the German club.

Stanway said in a statement: “I am deeply grateful to FC Bayern for the past few years and, thankfully, my time here is not over yet.

“The decision to leave Munich was incredibly difficult for me, and it was not an easy one. I have made friends and memories that will last a lifetime, and I have grown a lot as a player and a person.

“As I have for the past three and a half years, I will give everything for the club and its sporting success until my last day, and at the end of the season I want to say goodbye to the club and the fans with as many titles as possible.”

Stanway has played a key role in England’s successive Euro wins.

Stanway joined Bayern from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, and during his time in Germany he helped England win the European Championship.

At club level with Bayern, she won three league titles, one German Cup and two German Super Cups.

Bianca Lech, Bayern Director of Women’s Football, said: “As the first English player at FC Bayern Women’s, Georgia Stanway not only made history, she also stole our hearts.

“She developed into one of Europe’s top players in Munich and has played a key role in the club’s success in recent years with her dedication and character.

“We’ve had a lot of candid conversations about her future, and when she told us she wanted to try something new now, we completely understood her reasoning.

“We thank her for the time we spent together and wish her all the best for the future. But we still have a few months left and we want to make it as successful as possible together.”
