Former Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has joined Brazilian Serie A side Corinthians on a free transfer, ending a two-month wait for his new club.

The 32-year-old left FC Seoul in January, signing a contract until the end of 2026 with an option for a one-year extension.

Lingard left England to join the South Korean club in 2024 after a poor spell at Nottingham Forest. At the Midlands club, Lingard made 17 Premier League appearances despite being plagued by injuries, not scoring a single goal.

Prior to that, Lingard enjoyed a successful loan spell at West Ham in 2021, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances for East London.

These performances saw him end a two-year absence from the England squad at the time and just missed out on qualifying for the Euros that summer.

In January, Jesse Lingard reflected on his time at Manchester United and his move from West Ham to Nottingham Forest.

His decision to join Forest rather than sign permanently with West Ham after leaving boyhood United in 2022 raised eyebrows.

However, in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News in January, Lingard revealed that his preference at the time was to move to West Ham.

“I went there on loan and did well and it made sense to come back, but a lot of things behind it convinced me to go to Forest. But my heart was always on West Ham. Everything happens for a reason. My heart was always on going to West Ham.”

“It was just written in the stars to go there. They offered me a good contract, three years at a time. Of course I would prefer a three-year contract over a one-year contract.”

Lingard currently links up with former Old Trafford teammate Memphis Depay at Corinthians, where the Netherlands’ all-time top scorer has spent the last two years.
